Tradition…respect.

Whether it’s the guidance and love of your parents and elders or the sacrifice and diligence of your predecessors, you are where you are now probably because of someone else. In some cases they worked to prepare the way for you, or they may have given you the foundation for your current standing in life.Continue reading →

I was there once upon a time

largeIf you look at this ad from January of 1982 you will see listings for Northtown 6. An old mall located at the intersection of Webb Chapel and Forest With 635 along the North side of the mall. This is a place that was the center of teen and pre-teen hangout back in the day. This is where I spent many a summer night in my youth.

It was at the end of the strip of Forest Lane that for the 70’s and much of the 80’s was considered one of the premier cruising strips in the nation.

I had many first time experiences there that I will not get into on this post…but that I might recount in a post some other time.

What I can tell you is that I DID go to the 5:30 showing of Tron and then I MAY have snuck into the 9:55 showing of Fast Times.

Peace!

September 1972…homeroom…

I remember when I was growing up one of the sayings was that it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile…I don’t know if that’s true but if it is I feel like there’s a lot, A LOT, of facial muscles getting a workout in the world today.Continue reading →

(Some of) My favorite Beatles covers

beatles-wallpaper-6One of my favorite groups of all time – The Beatles. They are perhaps the most covered band of all time and for good reason. They influenced so many and in fact continue to do so today. Most covers are a sign of respect, and no everyone can get it right. I prefer the covers that pay homage to the original but still let you know that they are their own performances. Here are some that I think do that.

In no particular order…Continue reading →

When God Speaks…

Lighted-Path-441x400Not an original thought here…but as has often been said, we probably miss the times and opportunities in our lives when God speaks to us simply because we are not listening. What kind of follows with this is that we pray in our time and God answers in his time. We cannot know what God has in store for us or when and so we must try and listen at all times. Like many things we try to learn, we should probably practice.Continue reading →
